Walking through Kolomna
Kolomna is an old provincial town, located on three rivers and two major roads. Like any other ancient city, it has certain legends closely connected with its history. One tower in the Kolomna Kremlin became a prison cell for Marina Mnishek (during the Time of Troubles she was the wife of False Dmitriy I and then his successor False Dmitriy II).
Kolomna was an apple of discord for three Russian principalities. Several centuries ago it survived a terrible fire. The town was desolated by the plague, it was also burnt and devastated by the Tatars. Furthermore, Nazis bypassed Kolomna in just 30 km (19 mi). However, this town has preserved many architectural monuments, merchant houses and mansions.
Come to Kolomna if you want to feel the atmosphere of an old Russian provincial town.
