Kamchatka is a large peninsula. It is located in the Russian Far East. The Kamchatka peninsula, the Karaginsky island and Commander islands constitute the Kamchatka region of Russia.

Where is Kamchatka

Kamchatka stretches 1,200 km from South to North, from West to East – 450 km. The Kamchatka peninsula Eastern coastlineis cut off from the sea by long lines of peaks which form numerous bays. E. g. Kronotsky, Kamchatsky, Karaginsky, Ozernoy etc.

There are also some bays there. E. g. Avacha, Karaga, Ossora. The Western coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula is cut off not much.

The territory of Kamchatka is close to the territory of Continental Franceby area. There are also numerous hills and volcanoes, lakes, rivers and forests buttiny quantity of automobile roads and no railways at all in Kamchatka.

It means that Kamchatka is a nice place to explore.

The Kamchatsky Krai is washed by The Sea of Okhotsk from the west and by the Pacific Ocean and the Bering Seafrom the East.

How to Reach Kamchatka

You can visit Kamchatka only by plane. The International airport “Elizovo” is located near the capital of the Kamchatka region – the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

Unfortunately, as a rule, price for ticketsto Kamchatka is high.

From Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskyto the various sights you can go by car (nearby places of interest) and helicopter as well.

In the Kamchatka region various trekking routes are very popular. For example, there are many interesting trekking routes (different levels) near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This city is surrounded by mountains and active volcanoes.

In general, you can travel on foot or helicopter (as you wish) – but in any case, you will like the unique nature of Kamchatka surely!
