3. Lena River with a Tributary – the Vitim River
The Lena River is located in Eastern Siberia and it flows into the Laptev Sea.
The length of the Lena River is 4551 km: the length of the tributary – Vitim – 1837 km, the length of the Lena River from the confluence of the Vitim River to the mouth of the Lena River – 2714 km.
The Lena River is on the list of the largest rivers of the planet in ninth place, and on the list of the largest rivers in Russia – in third place.
The Lena River freezes in reverse order – from the lower parts to the upper parts.
The Lena River in the language of one of the indigenous peoples of Siberia – Evenki – means “big river”.
In the place where the Lena River flows there used to be an ancient ocean. It was due to raise of the bottom of an ancient ocean and subsequent weathering and destruction of the risen ocean floor a wonder of the world was formed – Lena Pillars of the height of 200 meters, standing along the banks of the Lena River. That means that before the level of the ground that resulted from the raise of the ocean floor was significantly higher than today. Lena Pillars are about 530 million years old.

4. Amur River with the Influx of the River Argun
The Amur River flows in the Far East and flows into the Sea of Okhotsk. The length of the river with its largest tributary – the Argun (Hailar) River is 4444 km.
There were attempts to calculate the length of the Amur River with the river system Kerulen – Lake Dalainor – Muddy flow River. But we do not think it is right because in some years it is the Argun River that sends its waters into the lake Dalainor, and not the other way around.
Thus, the Amur River is the fourth longest river in Russia and the tenth in the world.
The name of the Amur River is translated from many languages of indigenous peoples of Siberia as a “river” – not too original considering other Russian river names.
A considerable portion of the Amur River is a border between Russia and China. It is believed that now the so-called hydraulic engineering was is under way. China, while strengthening the banks of the River Amur, directs the course of the river towards Russia. It results in the Russian territory being gradually eroded – and the Amur River is slowly shifting onto the Russian side.
